Pumpkin Spice Body Scrub

I love the feeling of just-exfoliated skin. The softness and smoothness you gain from using body scrubs is heavenly. Body scrubs are like a facial for your body, and who doesn’t like their skin to feel like baby’s booty?

I was glad to find out that you can actually make your own body and hand scrubs. They are easy and quick to make. You can get creative and use all sorts of different oils like safflower oil, almond oil, avocado oil, lavender oil, sunflower oil, and even baby oil. The key is in the ratio – 2 parts of sugar : 1 part of oil.

Here’s a video on how to make an easy body and hand scrub at home.

Using ingredients I already had, I put together the following recipe:

Pumpkin Spice Body Scrub

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup epsom salt
  • 1 cup sunflower oil
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice

In a medium size bowl simply mix the brown sugar, the epsom salt and the pumpkin pie spice making sure there are no big granulated chunks. Then mix in the sunflower oil. Voilà!

The sunflower oil retains the moisture of your skin, while the epsom salt eliminates toxins from your body and dead cells from your skin. Epsom salt is well known to reduce swelling and relax the muscles and the nerves. This type of scrub is perfect during a hot shower after a long day, if I say so myself.

As the cold weather approaches and the holidays are right around the corner, this makes for a great holiday gift – easy, affordable and yummy.

Happy scrubbin’!
